Persistent inflation pressures, reflected in recent CPI prints and surging Treasury yields above 5%, have tempered valuations even as S&P 500 earnings growth remains robust, led by AI-driven tech capex and projected full-year EPS expansion near 25%. Oil prices above $100 per barrel add cost-side headwinds. Trader positioning for December resolution will hinge on incoming data including the October 28 FOMC meeting, Q3 GDP, and monthly employment and inflation releases, with consensus year-end targets clustered around 7,800–8,000.
