Luis Arraez holds the strongest position in the MLB batting average leader market due to his elite contact skills, low strikeout rate, and consistent production near .316-.318 through early September for the Phillies. His recent game logs show steady singles and doubles that sustain his average amid a tight NL race, aligning with trader consensus on his historical edge in pure hitting metrics. Yordan Alvarez trails as the AL pacesetter near .311-.314 with the Astros, bolstered by strong on-base numbers but tempered by fewer at-bats and a power-oriented profile that can fluctuate more. Otto Lopez, Yandy Díaz, and Freddie Freeman sit further back around .300-.306, reflecting solid but less dominant recent form without the same sustained leadership. Late-season schedule and health remain key variables for all contenders.
