The benchmark closed near 7,650 in mid-September after an 11.8% year-to-date advance, supported by robust productivity and capital investment even as the Federal Reserve raised the federal funds target range to 3.75-4% on September 16 amid PCE inflation near 3.6-3.7%. Ten-year Treasury yields at 5% and mixed analyst year-end targets (mostly 7,700-8,100) reflect the balance between earnings growth and tighter monetary policy. Key near-term catalysts include upcoming labor market and inflation releases that could influence further rate expectations and equity valuations.
