The Toronto Blue Jays (67-70) visit the Cleveland Guardians (68-68) for a three-game set beginning September 1, with both clubs jockeying for the final AL wild-card spot. Cleveland holds the third wild-card position while Toronto sits 3.5 games back, giving the Guardians a slight edge in playoff implications and home-field advantage at Progressive Field. The Blue Jays enter after back-to-back wins over Seattle but remain hampered by multiple injuries, including Josh Smith (hamstring) and Jameson Taillon (forearm). Cleveland’s recent 7-3 stretch was snapped by two losses to Kansas City, though its pitching staff has posted the lower team ERA. Probable starters such as Spencer Arrighetti and Gavin Williams, along with bullpen depth and recent offensive trends from Vladimir Guerrero Jr. and Chase DeLauter, will shape early market positioning on game and series outcomes.
