The deep 70-man field for the FedEx St. Jude Championship at TPC Southwind features numerous players arriving in strong recent form from the Wyndham Championship, including consistent performers like Scottie Scheffler atop the FedExCup standings, Rory McIlroy’s fresh commitment, and defending champion Justin Rose. This parity, combined with the course’s demanding layout that rewards early ball-striking and scrambling, produces tightly bunched implied probabilities across a wide group of contenders. No single golfer holds a clear edge for Thursday’s opening round, as variable pin placements, potential wind shifts, and the inherent variance in one-round scoring keep outcomes competitive and prevent any dominant market favorite from emerging.
