Pedro Martinez, a clay-court specialist ranked No. 113, meets higher-ranked No. 84 Aleksandar Vukic in the opening round of Rolex Monte-Carlo Masters qualifying on the slow, outdoor clay at Monte Carlo Country Club. Martinez leads their head-to-head 2-1, with recent straight-set victories highlighting his superior baseline defense and endurance in extended rallies typical of this surface. Both arrive off early clay exits last week—Martinez fell in Bucharest R32 to Daniel Altmaier, while Vukic suffered a shock R32 upset by wildcard Taha Baadi in Marrakech—exposing vulnerabilities in form ahead of this ATP Masters 1000 qualifier. Trader consensus weighs Martinez's surface affinity and H2H edge against Vukic's power game and ranking, with no reported injuries or withdrawals.
