The Chicago Cubs enter their next matchup against the San Francisco Giants amid a rough stretch that includes 20 losses in their last 27 games and a series defeat at Wrigley Field capped by a 2-1, 10-inning loss on June 7. The Giants secured two of three behind strong starting pitching, a Matt Chapman extra-innings RBI single, and effective bullpen work, extending their recent four-win surge in five outings. Chicago faces mounting injury concerns, with starter Jameson Taillon likely headed to the injured list after a hamstring strain and additional roster players already sidelined. The Giants, sitting at 27-39 in the NL West, continue to battle inconsistency but showed resilience on a demanding road trip, while the 34-32 Cubs must stabilize their rotation and offense to climb in the NL Central standings.
