Eastern Conference features Buffalo Sabres (A1) vs. Boston Bruins (WC1), Tampa Bay Lightning (A2) vs. Montreal Canadiens (A3), Carolina Hurricanes (M1) vs. Ottawa Senators (WC2), and Pittsburgh Penguins (M2) vs. Philadelphia Flyers (M3)—the latter a heated rivalry revived by Philly's shootout clincher over Carolina that ended their five-year postseason drought. Western matchups pit top-seeded Colorado Avalanche against a wild card foe, Dallas Stars (C2) vs. Minnesota Wild (C3), and others emphasizing goaltender save percentages, power play rankings, and final injury reports like potential returns for key defensemen.
