Charlton Athletic enter the fixture on strong Championship form, sitting top after three straight league wins under Nathan Jones and boasting a settled squad with contributions from players like Karlan Grant and Sonny Carey. Liverpool, managed by Andoni Iraola, face a significant quality gap despite their Premier League resources, with a disrupted pre-season and early-season results marked by draws against Newcastle and Nottingham Forest.
