Tatjana Maria, the 38-year-old German grass-court specialist and 2022 Wimbledon semifinalist, enters this potential second-round clash after reaching the Eastbourne final, where she fell to Madison Keys in straight sets on June 27. Her veteran serve-volley game and prior deep runs on the surface provide the main counter to Iva Jovic, the 18-year-old American ranked around No. 16-17 who has posted strong recent grass results, including a semifinal at the 2026 HSBC Championships with a win over Amanda Anisimova. The pair has no prior head-to-head record. Jovic’s superior current ranking, athletic baseline game, and form edge align with trader consensus favoring the younger player on the fast lawns, though Maria’s experience in high-stakes Wimbledon matches introduces the primary upset variable.
