Daniil Medvedev meets Matteo Berrettini in the Monte Carlo Masters round of 32 on clay, pitting Medvedev's baseline consistency and perfect 3-0 head-to-head edge—all on hard courts—against Berrettini's powerful serve and superior clay-court affinity. Medvedev enters fresh for his opener after a stellar 2026 hard-court start with titles in Brisbane and Dubai, buoyed by minimal clay points to defend, while claiming improved red-dirt mastery. Berrettini, granted a wildcard post-abdominal and hand injuries that forced Australian Open withdrawal and season delay, advanced yesterday via Roberto Bautista Agut's retirement at 4-0 after 23 minutes, raising rust and fitness questions. Mild weather favors play, but Berrettini's injury history tempers trader sentiment on this ATP Masters 1000 clash.
