Both AL Central contenders enter this Target Field series with sub-.500 records around 3-4, fueling a competitive trader consensus in a tight early-season matchup. Detroit returns from a 2-4 West Coast road trip marred by a four-game losing streak, including a frustrating 1-0 shutout loss to Arizona where Tarik Skubal received no run support despite a quality start. Minnesota holds home-field edge but faces uncertainty with star CF Byron Buxton day-to-day after a right forearm contusion from being hit by a pitch yesterday—X-rays negative, but his availability looms large given his power/speed impact. Pitching rotations are tested: Tigers without RHP Reese Olson (60-day shoulder surgery) and LHP Bailey Horn (15-day elbow); Twins sidelined by RHP Travis Adams (15-day triceps). Recent form, injury reports, and cold-weather potential at Target Field shape the balanced probabilities.
