The Houston Astros enter their April 11-13 series against the Seattle Mariners atop the AL West at 5-3, buoyed by an early hot streak including a win over the Red Sox, but reeling from an 11-4 blowout loss to the Athletics on April 3 amid bullpen woes—closer Josh Hader landed on the 15-day IL recently, joined by RP Enyel De Los Santos (knee) and others. Mariners (3-4) gained momentum with a 3-1 extra-innings win over the Angels on April 3 and INF J.P. Crawford's activation from the 10-day IL after shoulder inflammation. Game 1 features Lance McCullers Jr. vs. Luis Castillo at pitcher-friendly T-Mobile Park, where Mariners hold strong home splits; Astros' depleted relief corps and road travel could test their division lead in this key early rivalry matchup.
