Burns, a BJJ blackbelt with top-tier grappling, enters on a four-fight skid capped by a first-round KO loss to Michael Morales in May 2025 that sparked retirement talk amid concussion concerns. Malott rides momentum from a unanimous decision win over Trevin Giles in late 2024, showcasing finishing flair via submission and TKO in prior bouts, bolstered by raucous home-crowd support. No official injury reports or withdrawals noted ahead of Friday's weigh-in; stylistic clash favors Burns' takedowns against Malott's striking and ground threats, with rest advantages minimal for both.
