The St. Louis Cardinals hold a modest edge in the NL Central with a 64-62 record versus the Cincinnati Reds' 60-65 mark entering this series at Great American Ball Park. Recent results show the Cardinals claiming the opener of an August 17 doubleheader 2-1 while the teams split additional contests, reflecting evenly matched offenses and bullpens in a tight division race. Both clubs feature middling run differentials and are jockeying for late-season positioning, with home-field factors and starting pitching matchups likely to sway outcomes over the remaining games. Roster health remains stable with no widespread injuries reported, though bullpen usage and rest patterns could influence availability in the extended schedule.
