The tight clustering of implied probabilities around 15-17.5% for dozens of players in the FedEx St. Jude Championship first-round leader market reflects the inherent unpredictability of a single round at TPC Southwind, where accuracy off the tee and strong approach play on bermudagrass greens reward streaky ball-strikers over consistent stars. Recent form favors names like Sam Burns and Collin Morikawa, who enter with solid statistical profiles and multiple top finishes, while Russell Henley draws attention for course fit and recent putting work. Top-ranked players such as Scottie Scheffler and Rory McIlroy sit lower due to the variance of opening rounds and their focus on overall playoff positioning rather than early aggression. With the field tightly bunched and no dominant recent momentum shifts, the market captures broad trader consensus on the potential for multiple hot starts among accurate, in-form competitors.
