Mark Lajal enters this US Open qualifying opener as the heavy favorite against 16-year-old American Jordan Lee on outdoor hard courts. The Estonian, ranked around 159 with a career-high of 145, brings ATP-level experience, a 60%+ career win rate, and strong recent hard-court results including a Cincinnati qualifying run. Lee, a top junior who captured the 2026 Wimbledon boys’ title and reached the Boys’ Nationals final, makes an early pro transition with a ranking near 1,770 and limited senior results. No prior head-to-head exists, but the ranking gap, Lajal’s superior serve-return metrics, and Lee’s adjustment to professional pace create a wide implied-probability edge for the veteran in the first-round matchup.
