Papua New Guinea and Samoa meet in Super Six Match 3 of the ICC Men's T20 World Cup East Asia-Pacific Qualifier 2026 at Sano International Cricket Ground, a pivotal clash for advancement with top-two spots on the line in the round-robin stage. PNG, the more established associate with prior T20 World Cup appearances, topped Group 3 unbeaten, relying on Assad Vala, Tony Ura, and spinner Kabua Morea for batting depth and wickets. Samoa arrives in scorching form after dominant group-stage wins, including a 96-run thrashing of Philippines and a nine-wicket rout of Indonesia, led by pace bowler Solomon Nash. Recent head-to-head favors neither decisively—Samoa won their October 2025 qualifier encounter, though PNG chased tightly in a prior tournament match. The new venue's artificial turf pitch shows bowler-friendly traits in limited T20Is, with toss crucial amid variable Japan weather; expect low-scoring contests emphasizing death bowling and middle-order resilience.
