Recent polling in the Makerfield by-election shows Labour candidate Andy Burnham holding a narrow lead over Reform UK's Robert Kenyon, with Restore Britain's Rebecca Shepherd on single digits amid a split in the right-wing vote. Kenyon benefits from strong local recognition as a constituency resident and plumber who contested the seat in 2024, alongside Reform's broader national momentum in former Labour areas. Scrutiny of Kenyon's prior social media activity has drawn attention in the final weeks before the 18 June vote, though Reform confirmed prior awareness of the posts. These dynamics position Kenyon as the consensus choice for second place among traders assessing the competitive two-horse race between the main parties.
