The Red Sox and Yankees enter their late-August series at Yankee Stadium with significant AL East and Wild Card implications, as Boston sits roughly 2.5–6 games back of New York in the standings amid a dramatic season turnaround. The Red Sox have posted a franchise-best stretch since sweeping the Yankees in late June, fueled by strong starting pitching and recent offensive contributions despite missing key contributors like Roman Anthony and Trevor Story. New York maintains a competitive record but has been hampered by absences, notably Aaron Judge and Giancarlo Stanton, with additional bullpen and rotation concerns including Max Fried and Fernando Cruz. Probable starters include Boston left-hander Patrick Sandoval against Yankees right-hander Cam Schlittler for the opener, with lefties lined up across the set to test New York’s lineup depth. Recent form, injury recoveries, and head-to-head history in a tight playoff race shape trader views on individual game and series outcomes.
