Following Toronto Blue Jays' 3-2 Opening Day win over the Oakland Athletics at Rogers Centre—fueled by Kevin Gausman's franchise-record 10 strikeouts and bottom-of-order production—Game 2 pits Athletics lefty Jeffrey Springs against Blue Jays righty Dylan Cease, a key offseason rotation addition. Jays (1-0) enjoy home-field edge as defending AL champions, but face pitching depth issues with Jose Berrios, Shane Bieber, and Trey Yesavage on the 15-day IL due to elbow and shoulder ailments. Athletics (0-1) managed just a .100 batting average Friday amid a .312 team ERA, highlighting early offensive struggles and bullpen resilience in a low-scoring affair. Weather-neutral dome play emphasizes matchup edges and rest for both sides.
