Trey McBride enters the 2026 NFL season as the Arizona Cardinals’ clear top receiving option after posting an NFL-record 126 catches for a tight end in 2025, along with 1,239 yards and 11 touchdowns on 169 targets. New head coach Mike LaFleur has repeatedly highlighted McBride’s versatility in the Shanahan/McVay-style scheme, which features increased pre-snap motion and play-action, while backup tight end Tip Reiman’s expected return should aid run blocking and keep McBride primarily in receiving roles. Jacoby Brissett is projected to start at quarterback and has a history of favoring tight ends, though the presence of Gardner Minshew and rookie Carson Beck adds some uncertainty to long-term volume. McBride faces competition for targets from wide receivers Marvin Harrison Jr. and Michael Wilson plus a capable running game, but recent depth-chart confirmation and preseason usage affirm his central role in an offense expected to generate substantial passing opportunities.
