Both the Orioles (58-62) and Twins (59-62) enter this Target Field series as sub-.500 AL wild-card contenders fighting to stay relevant in August. Baltimore has shown offensive pop recently, including a 10-run outburst and a 5-2 win on August 11, but faces a Twins staff anchored by Dean Kremer’s first start against his former club and support from arms like Trevor Rogers. Multiple injuries on both sides—Twins outfielders and pitchers on the IL, Orioles dealing with similar absences—shape lineup decisions and bullpen usage. Home-field advantage at Target Field, combined with the teams’ comparable run differentials and recent inconsistencies, keeps the matchup competitive heading into the August 12 rubber game.
