**R. Vaishali clinched the 2026 FIDE Women’s Candidates Tournament title yesterday in round 14 by defeating Kateryna Lagno, securing outright victory with 8.5/14 points and earning the right to challenge reigning Women's World Champion Ju Wenjun.** Her rollercoaster campaign featured key wins over top contenders like Aleksandra Goryachkina and Bibisara Assaubayeva, surging from mid-pack after early draws to sole lead by round 11 amid rivals' stumbles, including Zhu Jiner and Anna Muzychuk failing to close the gap in the finale. As the lowest-rated entrant and first Indian woman to win the event, Vaishali's resilience drove trader consensus to 100% implied probability. With the tournament officially concluded per FIDE standings, no realistic challenges remain barring unprecedented appeals or disqualifications.
