The Chicago White Sox hold a 2-0 series lead over the visiting Kansas City Royals after narrow 6-5 victories on May 12 and 13 at Rate Field, boosting their record to 20-21 and a half-game lead in the AL Central atop the Royals' 19-23 mark. Today's rubber match features Royals lefty Kris Bubic (3-1, 3.50 ERA) against White Sox southpaw Anthony Kay (2-1, 4.89 ERA), with Kansas City's rotation thinned by Cole Ragans' ongoing 15-day IL stint for left elbow impingement. Salvador Perez and Bobby Witt Jr. provided recent power for the Royals, while Andrew Benintendi remains day-to-day with neck stiffness for Chicago; home-field edge and Sox momentum shape a competitive intradivision clash.
