Gian van Veen enters this New Zealand Darts Masters opener as the clear market favorite at 76% implied probability, reflecting his status as world number two and top seed in the field. The Dutchman reached the 2026 PDC World Championship final and maintains elite three-dart averages above 100 in recent majors, while showcasing strong form across World Series events. New Zealand’s Jonny Tata, a domestic standout with WDF titles, brings home advantage and familiarity with local conditions but has recorded only modest PDC results, including early exits in major qualifiers. The matchup pits Tata’s occasional scoring bursts against van Veen’s consistent finishing and experience in high-stakes legs, supporting the pronounced probability gap without confirmed injuries or late roster changes altering the setup.
