Anton Danko, the long-serving incumbent mayor of Poprad, holds a narrow lead in trader consensus ahead of Slovakia’s October 24 municipal elections, reflecting his established record on local infrastructure, tourism ties to the High Tatras, and cross-party backing. Multiple independent and business-backed challengers, including Mikuláš Bobák and Jozef Králik, keep the field fragmented, with vote-splitting dynamics limiting any single opponent’s momentum. František Majerský’s August decision to forgo a mayoral bid and instead target council seats further shapes opposition coordination. Upcoming candidate registrations, local debates, and any late endorsements or turnout signals in the Prešov region could shift positioning before election day.
