**Iliana Iotova holds a strong lead in the first-round market for Bulgaria’s October 25 presidential election as the incumbent who assumed office in January 2026 following Rumen Radev’s resignation.** She is running as an independent with backing from the Bulgarian Socialist Party (BSP), Progressive Bulgaria, and allied groups, after registering her ticket with running mate Kiril Valchev in late September. Early polling from July showed her with roughly double the support of the next contender, and her party structures have established dedicated campaign operations. The registration of 27 candidate pairs, including Andrey Gyurov (backed by PP-DB) and several lower-profile independents or smaller-party nominees, has further fragmented the field ahead of the campaign launch on September 25. Trader pricing reflects these structural and polling advantages while leaving room for shifts from the multi-candidate contest and any late developments before the October vote.
