The Tampa Bay Rays, Chicago White Sox, and Houston Astros currently lead their respective AL divisions and sit in strong position to secure byes into the ALDS, while the New York Yankees, Boston Red Sox, and Cleveland Guardians occupy the top wild-card spots. With roughly four weeks remaining, the Rays hold a 4.5-game edge in the AL East over the injury-plagued Yankees, the White Sox maintain a three-game cushion in the Central, and the Astros lead the West by one game over the Rangers. The final wild-card berth remains tight, with the Guardians ahead of the Rangers and Orioles by 1.5 games. Upcoming series among contenders, including Rays-Yankees and White Sox-Guardians matchups, plus September call-up impacts and remaining head-to-head games, will shape which teams advance through the wild-card round to the ALDS.
