Nasim Nuñez holds a commanding position in the MLB stolen bases race, having reached 46 swipes through early September while maintaining a multi-steal advantage over Chandler Simpson and the rest of the field. The Washington Nationals infielder's aggressive baserunning, combined with consistent opportunities in the lineup, has allowed him to pull away from pursuers including Jazz Chisholm Jr., Bobby Witt Jr., and Pete Crow-Armstrong, who sit in the 36-41 range. Trader consensus reflected in the current pricing accounts for the limited remaining schedule and Nuñez's established lead, though his recent placement on the bereavement list introduces minor uncertainty around additional opportunities in the final weeks. Historical patterns show late surges remain possible for speed-oriented players, but the gap makes significant catch-up unlikely absent major changes in playing time.
