This market will resolve according to the winner of the 2026 South Carolina gubernatorial election. A candidate shall be considered to represent a party in the event that he or she is the nominee of the party in question. Candidates other than the Democratic or Republican nominee (e.g., Greens, Libertarian, independent) may be added at a later date. Candidates who run as independents will not be encompassed by the “Democrat” or “Republican” options regardless of any affiliation they may have with the party. The resolution source for this market is the Associated Press, Fox News, and NBC. This market will resolve once all three sources call the race for the same candidate. If all three sources haven’t called the race in this state for the same candidate, this market will resolve based on the official certification.Alan Wilson secured the Republican nomination in a June 2026 runoff with a decisive 68.6% of the vote after consolidating support from most primary rivals and receiving a late dual endorsement from President Trump alongside his opponent. As South Carolina’s attorney general since 2011 and the son of longtime U.S. Rep. Joe Wilson, he enters the November 3 general election against Democratic state Rep. Jermaine Johnson with the advantages of party infrastructure, fundraising strength, and incumbency-like name recognition in a state that has elected only Republican governors since 2003. Recent polls show Wilson leading by double digits in this solidly Republican environment. Johnson’s primary win and focus on infrastructure and affordability have not narrowed the gap substantially. Scenarios that could realistically shift the outcome remain limited but include major late-cycle scandals, health events, or an unexpected national political realignment within the final weeks.
