Rising memory costs from the AI boom have prompted Apple to lobby the Trump administration and test CXMT DRAM for potential use in China-market devices, yet the 75.5% market-implied odds against a 2026 purchase reflect persistent regulatory barriers. CXMT remains on the Pentagon’s 1260H list of firms with alleged military ties, and Apple seeks but has not secured assurances against Entity List placement that would impose licensing hurdles. Political opposition from lawmakers, combined with CXMT’s capacity largely committed to domestic buyers at non-discounted prices, limits near-term supply deals. Apple continues sourcing primarily from Micron, Samsung, and SK Hynix, with any broader adoption requiring White House clearance unlikely before year-end amid export-control scrutiny.
