The league completed a shortened 2026 schedule with events in Indianapolis before layoffs of most staff in early September and a pivot to restructuring under a term sheet with BC Partners. Plans for LIV 2.0 emphasize a player-majority ownership model, a reduced 10-event calendar, expanded fields to 75 players with cuts and qualifiers, and emergence targeted for early 2027. Key players including Jon Rahm and Bryson DeChambeau appear as top creditors yet remain central to the transition, while ongoing PGA Tour competition and sponsor interest support continuity prospects despite significant liabilities between $500 million and $1 billion.
