Scarlet Kavanagh, a 16-year-old British player with limited ITF experience and a ranking near 1350, enters the W35 Verbier first-round match on clay after strong qualifying wins over Victoria Carron and Naoko Eto. Ayline Esina Samardzic, a 23-year-old Swiss player ranked around 1090 with more tour-level matches this season, holds a modest edge in experience and benefits from home-country scheduling. No prior head-to-head exists, and both compete at similar low-tier levels where form, fitness, and surface adaptation often outweigh ranking gaps. Recent qualifier momentum favors Kavanagh, while Samardzic’s greater match volume and local conditions provide counterbalance in a closely contested opener on outdoor clay.
