Maya Joint holds the edge in this Monterrey Open qualifying final on hard courts as the top seed and higher-ranked player (No. 67 vs. Putintseva at No. 81), bolstered by strong recent hard-court results including wins over Cirstea and Starodubtseva in Toronto plus a career-highlight victory over Serena Williams at Wimbledon. The 20-year-old Australian enters after a straight-sets qualifying win over Hinojosa Gomez, while the 31-year-old Kazakh Putintseva, with an extensive hard-court history but a 13-15 main-draw record this season and mixed 2026 results, advanced past Rodriguez. No prior head-to-head exists, though Putintseva’s experience offers upset potential in the one-off match.
