This market will resolve to “Yes” if any orbital data center is successfully launched by the specified date, 11:59 PM ET. Otherwise, this market will resolve to “No”. “Orbital data center” refers to any spacecraft, satellite, or equivalent technology carrying computing infrastructure that is launched into Earth’s orbit for the purpose of providing data-center, cloud-computing, or artificial intelligence computing services and which includes at least 100 data-center-grade AI accelerators, GPUs, TPUs, or substantially equivalent compute processors, (e.g. NVIDIA H100 GPUs, Google TPUs, or equivalent or successor chips). “Successfully launched” refers to any launch which successfully places a qualifying orbital data center into Earth’s orbit. The primary resolution source for this market will be a consensus of credible reporting.Recent prototype successes and major corporate filings are shaping trader views on timelines for the first operational orbital AI data center. Starcloud, backed by NVIDIA, completed the initial in-orbit large language model training using an H100 GPU in late 2025, while SpaceX unveiled its AI1 satellite design in June 2026 and filed FCC plans for a constellation of up to one million units to host interconnected GPU clusters. Google’s Project Suncatcher, partnered with Planet Labs, targets prototype launches in early 2027 using solar-powered satellites with TPUs and free-space optical links. Startups such as Orbital and Aetherflux are advancing 2027 tests with radiation-hardened chips like NVIDIA’s Vera Rubin platform. Earth-based power constraints and falling launch costs accelerate interest, though full-scale, multi-GPU systems face hurdles in cooling, radiation tolerance, and regulatory approval.
