Felix Auger-Aliassime enters the 2026 US Open first round as the No. 3 seed and world No. 4 against Rinky Hijikata, reflecting a significant gap in ranking, recent results, and hard-court pedigree. The Canadian reached the semifinals here in 2025 after quarterfinal appearances at the French Open and Wimbledon, posting a 31-14 season record with strong serving and forehand power despite a brief back issue that sidelined him from Montreal. Hijikata, ranked No. 85 with a 14-16 record, has shown inconsistency on the surface and enters off mixed lead-up results including early exits in Cincinnati and Winston-Salem. This marks their first meeting, with Auger-Aliassime holding a dominant 187-106 hard-court mark compared to Hijikata’s 37-45, plus greater rest ahead of the Grandstand matchup. Trader consensus heavily favors the higher-ranked player on outdoor hard courts.
