Echargui (ATP No. 144) holds a ranking edge and 1-0 head-to-head lead from their 2023 clay encounter, bolstered by greater tour-level experience, though his recent form shows qualifying losses in Marrakech, Indian Wells, and Miami after a Pau Challenger quarterfinal. Bertola (No. 207), entering as an alternate amid Martin Landaluce's withdrawal, boasts a career-high ranking and slightly superior Elo rating (1531 vs. 1495), but a subpar 33% clay win rate tempers expectations despite a round-of-16 run in Alicante. Late scratches, weather on outdoor clay, or practice buzz could shift odds pre-match on April 6.
