Alastair Gray enters the Wuning Challenger first round on a six-match winning streak after capturing the ITF M25 Maanshan title on April 5, defeating Kuan-Yi Lee 2-0 in the final following comebacks like his 0-6, 6-3, 6-2 semifinal win over James McCabe—all on hard courts in China. Yasutaka Uchiyama, ranked higher at No. 275 to Gray's No. 379, has faltered recently with early exits in Nonthaburi and Brisbane Challengers earlier this year, lacking momentum on hard courts. No prior head-to-head exists for this outdoor hardcourt clash; Gray's surge and stylistic edge from his 193cm height contrast Uchiyama's experience, shaping trader consensus amid no reported injuries or withdrawals.
