Tianhui Zhang holds a clear ranking edge at approximately No. 723 over Qian Sun’s No. 942, giving the younger player the stronger baseline credentials on the outdoor hard courts of the ITF M15 Maanshan 7. Both Chinese players have competed regularly on the surface this summer, with Zhang posting recent wins in qualifying rounds and reaching quarterfinals in comparable M15 events before consecutive straight-set losses. Sun’s form shows similar inconsistency, including a first-round victory followed by defeats in Tianjin. Their limited head-to-head record favors Zhang from earlier meetings. The round-of-16 encounter features no reported injuries or withdrawals, so standard factors such as current match fitness, serve effectiveness on hard, and adaptation to the Maanshan conditions will shape the outcome.
