The San Diego Padres enter the three-game set at Citi Field with a 66-58 record, sitting second in the NL West and still in playoff contention, while the New York Mets sit at 55-69, fifth in the NL East and well out of the race. Key roster factors include multiple Padres absences on the injured list—DH Miguel Andujar (wrist), LF Samad Taylor (oblique), and starters Lucas Giolito and Joe Musgrove—alongside Mets losses such as RHP Devin Williams (shoulder) and infielder Mark Vientos (hand). Recent momentum shows the Padres with a slight edge in win-loss trends and overall run differential, though both clubs have posted similar team batting averages near .235. Home-field factors at Citi Field and the Mets’ recent three-game win streak provide some counterbalance, yet the Padres’ stronger overall depth and division standing shape the primary market positioning for the series.
