Both clubs enter the three-game series at Busch Stadium with nearly identical records and middle-of-the-pack offenses, though the Cardinals hold a slight edge in runs per game and on-base percentage. San Diego’s pitching staff faces added strain from multiple injured-list placements, including starters and relievers, while catchers Freddy Fermin and Luis Campusano remain sidelined. Recent form shows the Padres coming off a road set against Baltimore and the Cardinals fresh from a series in Minnesota. Weather in St. Louis is expected to be warm and dry for the Tuesday contest, with probable starters and bullpen availability likely to shape late-inning strategy. Home-field splits and recent head-to-head results at Busch provide additional context for lineup decisions.
