The Las Vegas Raiders' decision to install veteran Kirk Cousins as the Week 1 starter reflects head coach Klint Kubiak's explicit training camp plan, where Cousins opens as QB1 and receives the bulk of first-team reps to stabilize the offense. After selecting Fernando Mendoza first overall in the 2026 draft, the organization prioritized a gradual integration for the rookie rather than an immediate handoff, consistent with statements from team insiders confirming Cousins as the frontrunner barring setbacks. This setup aligns with the market's heavy consensus on Cousins, as traders weigh his experience against Mendoza's adjustment to the NFL and Klint Kubiak's scheme. Realistic challenges include a camp injury to Cousins or Mendoza's rapid mastery of the playbook prompting a mid-August shift, though current roster dynamics and official reports leave little room for Aidan O'Connell to factor into the opening lineup.

In the event two listed quarterbacks take the field on the first offensive play of the Las Vegas Raiders’ Week 1 game, this market will resolve in favor of the player directly receiving the snap. If neither listed quarterback directly receives the snap, this market will resolve in favor of the player whose listed last name comes first alphabetically.
If Week 1 of the 2026-27 NFL regular season is cancelled, postponed after September 30, 2026, 11:59 PM ET, or no official starter has taken the field within that timeframe, this market will resolve to “Other”.
The resolution source for this market will be official information from the NFL and/or the Las Vegas Raiders; however, a consensus of credible reporting may also be used.
