This market will resolve to "Yes" if any player records more than 14 interceptions during the 2026-27 NFL regular season, thereby breaking the NFL single-season interceptions record. Otherwise, this market will resolve to "No". The NFL single-season interceptions record is 14, set by Dick "Night Train" Lane in 1952. Matching the record exactly will not be sufficient; a player must exceed 14 interceptions for this market to resolve to "Yes". Only regular season games count. Playoff games, including Wild Card, Divisional, Conference Championship, and Pro Football Championship games, do not count. A player's total is the total he records across all of his 2026-27 NFL regular season games, including games played for more than one team. Only interceptions recorded on defense count; interceptions thrown by a passer do not count. If the 2026-27 NFL regular season is shortened, truncated, or ends early for any reason, the outcome shall be determined using available official data for completed games. If the 2026-27 NFL regular season is cancelled, postponed after January 26, 2027, 11:59 PM ET, or it cannot be determined whether any player exceeded 14 interceptions within that timeframe, this market will resolve to "50-50". The resolution source for this market will be official information from the NFL; however, a consensus of credible reporting may also be used. The NFL single-season interceptions record of 14, set by Dick “Night Train” Lane in 1952, has stood untouched for decades, with no player reaching 12 since Lester Hayes in 1980 and the 2025 league leader finishing with just seven. Trader consensus at 73.5% for “No” reflects persistent league-wide declines in turnovers driven by rule protections for quarterbacks, emphasis on short high-percentage passes, analytics-driven risk management, and reduced average depth of target. Recent seasons show even elite cornerbacks rarely exceed single digits, while entire defenses posted historically low totals, underscoring how structural and schematic factors continue to limit opportunities for any defender to approach the benchmark during the upcoming 17-game schedule.
