Charlton Athletic Women’s return to the Women’s Super League after promotion via a dramatic playoff penalty shootout victory over Leicester sets up a high-stakes opener against established WSL side Liverpool at The Valley. Charlton’s strong defensive record and unbeaten run in the second tier, combined with home support and recent squad continuity under manager Karen Hills, balance Liverpool’s greater top-flight experience and recent unbeaten streak in cup ties. The even market pricing across Charlton win, draw, and Liverpool win reflects uncertainty around how quickly the promoted side adapts to WSL pace and quality, with both teams carrying limited recent head-to-head context at this level and no major confirmed injuries altering the outlook.
