Polina Kudermetova enters as the clear trader favorite against Carolyn Ansari in the Credit One Charleston Open qualifying first round on green clay, driven by her superior WTA ranking of No. 153 versus Ansari's No. 295 and prior top-54 peak. Kudermetova's 9-6 YTD record includes a recent quarterfinal run on clay at Antalya 3 two weeks ago, beating Moyuka Uchijima before falling to Tamara Zidansek, showcasing solid baseline form suited to Charleston's surface. Ansari, an American leveraging home crowd support, posts a 13-8 YTD mark mostly at ITF level with consistent wins but lacks Kudermetova's WTA experience. No head-to-head exists, no injuries reported, and the outdoor match faces typical early-spring conditions with potential for extended rallies.
