Second-seeded Ekaterina Alexandrova, ranked No. 13 and defending champion, leads trader consensus against resurgent Karolina Pliskova (No. 258) in the Upper Austria Ladies Linz round of 16 on indoor clay—the tournament's first clay edition. Pliskova, returning from a 2025 ankle surgery layoff, posted a straight-sets 6-4, 6-4 R32 win over Aliaksandra Sasnovich two days ago, signaling sharp form after a 4-3 2026 record marred by Qatar retirements. Alexandrova's 5-8 YTD includes a recent Miami retirement loss to Jaqueline Cristian, tempering her clay credentials despite a strong prior record. Their even 2-2 head-to-head underscores upset potential for Pliskova's big serve in the faster indoor conditions, with no reported injuries.
