Defending champion Jessica Pegula faces surging underdog Yuliia Starodubtseva in the Credit One Charleston Open final on green clay, their first head-to-head matchup. Pegula, the top seed and world No. 6, has grinded through four straight three-setters this week—including a taxing 6-4, 5-7, 6-3 semifinal over Iva Jovic—showcasing resilience with comebacks against Yulia Putintseva, Elisabetta Cocciaretto, and Diana Shnaider, though potential fatigue looms after 10+ hours on court. Starodubtseva, ranked No. 89 and into her maiden WTA final, dominated Madison Keys 6-1, 6-4 in semis following a strong qualifying run, riding momentum from recent ranking gains amid fewer taxing matches. Home crowd support and Pegula's superior clay pedigree factor heavily, but Starodubtseva's fresh legs and straight-sets form add upset potential.
