Sonmez holds a 10-8 YTD record with recent hard-court form including a Miami second-round exit to Belinda Bencic, but her WTA-level clay ledger stands at just 1-6, tempering expectations on the Stuttgart surface. Eighteen-year-old German Pohle enters as a home hopeful with junior-level clay success (60% win rate) and crowd support, fueling upset potential in their head-to-head debut. Late withdrawals or practice court buzz could shift sentiment ahead of Friday's start.
