John Sperle, the higher-ranked German left-hander (No. 820) with a solid 2026 clay record near 58%, enters the M15 Pecs semifinal after advancing through qualifying and main-draw wins on the Hungarian swing, including recent victories over Tomas Lanik and Kolos Kincses. Stepan Baum, the lower-ranked Czech (No. 1535) also competing primarily on clay, reached the final four via straight-set wins over Adam Gabor Szoke and Filip Drab, plus a retirement victory. The surface favors both players' baseline styles, though Sperle’s greater match volume, higher ranking, and stronger historical ITF results on clay shape the current market positioning around his implied probability edge in this first meeting.
